Some instructions:

Take one of the postcards and find a long, well-lit hallway or straight section of sidewalk on a cloudy day. Have a friend hold up the postcard or tape it to a wall. Face the postcard then slowly step backward until you can’t see the difference between the letters and the background on the postcard. The number of paces in the artwork is where my eyes saw color blending, but it may not be the same for you.

This piece was originally part of POLYCHROME a collaboration with Middle Ear Project. Here’s an interview I did on the project.

Watch a video about the postcards here.

Three postcards lined up. The first postcard in lettering that looks like cross stitching says “blue at thirty-three paces”, the second “green at thirty-four paces,” and the third “red at thirty-eight paces.”
